The Power of CBD to Rock the Pharmaceutical Industry’s Boat

Modern medicine is an amazing thing that has saved many lives. There have been so many modern medical advancements over the years that it can be hard to keep up with the latest medical trends. Apart from all the positives that come from the pharmaceutical industry, there is also a lot of criticism.

People are concerned about the long- and short-term effects of these pharmaceuticals. There has been a lot of evidence showing that certain medicines are having negative effects on users. This leaves consumers in a difficult position having to decide between taking the medicine and get better or avoiding scary side-effects. For most the choice is easy, but it shouldn’t have to be a choice between the lesser of two evils. This is where CBD strains come in.

The Miracle Plant

Cannabis has been around for thousands of years and only as recently as the 1900s was it made illegal. The large legalization movement surrounding cannabis has gained a lot of speed over recent years. People are challenging the fake research that was used to condemn cannabis in the first place.

One of the biggest medicinal discoveries regarding cannabis was the identification of different cannabinoids. The main two, THC and CBD, have major medicinal properties and are posing a threat to the pharmaceutical industry. There are so many ways to use these two compounds and they can help relieve or even cure many problems that previously required modern medicine.

CBD

Cannabidiol, CBD, is a non-psychoactive compound found inside most cannabis strains. For the most part, it comes in lower levels than THC, making it difficult to identify. With modern extraction methods, scientists have been able to extract pure CBD, which has allowed for further research and testing.

What this research has concluded, is that CBD strains are a major player in the fight against all sorts of diseases and illnesses. The reason it hasn’t been made legal, especially since it is non-psychoactive, is questionable and most people think it has something to do with the huge effect it would have on the existing pharmaceutical industry. This medicine has the potential to replace hundreds of generic labels that are used on a daily basis. Not only is CBD proving to be more effective, but it is proving to have far less negative side-effects on the body – which is increasingly important to modern users.

Before CBD can be used on a mass scale, it has to be legalized and made more readily available. Currently, the only way to obtain CBD is by purchasing it in Canada or one of the other US states where cannabis use is legal. There are different CBD products available, including bud that was bred specifically for CBD – resulting in a product that provides almost no psychoactive effects – and CBD oils that contain pure CBD, allowing for accurate doses.

CBD as a Wonder Medicine

The main reason that CBD is a challenge to the pharmaceutical industry is the fact that it is easily available and comes from a plant. The pharmaceutical industry makes billions of dollars each year selling drugs to people of all different ages. These drugs are often very expensive and the main reason is the monopoly that the pharmaceutical companies have on the market. Users have nowhere else to turn, so they either spend extra for these generic medicines or they go without them.

CBD is weakening the pharmaceutical companies control by making an effective alternative readily available. There are many diseases that CBD strains help with and people are no longer limited to the generic medicine. The only limitation with CBD is its lack of research. Because it is still declared illegal in most countries and states, there has been little research conducted on the long-term effects of CBD. As a result, there are likely still a lot of medicinal uses for CBC that have not yet been discovered. This hidden potential is a major risk to the pharmaceutical industry. The more uses this miracle compound has, the less money companies can make from selling other generic medicine brands.

No medicines (including CBD) for that matter should be treated as a cure-all wonder medicine or miracle cure. CBD cannot fix all of your health problems and even the problems that it does help with, it might not cure completely. CBD should be treated like any other medicine and only used as needed. Using CBD in conjunction with most modern medicines is also fine and, in most cases, it improves the effects of normal medicine and reduces side-effects like nausea and lack-of-appetite.

It is evident from what modern studies we do have that CBD is taking the world by storm.  There are so many illnesses that are already being treated very successfully using CBD strains including epilepsy, cancer, and Alzheimer’s. This comes as a major threat to any existing pharmaceutical companies. They will either need to get involved in the CBD market or lose out on a lot of money.
